Schedule

This page is partly to give participants an idea of what's going to go on, and more importantly to let all you folks at home know what they are up to.  There will be some times during the program that we'd love folks from the community to come along and participate.  You'll find them listed below.  We are also planning to video all the talks and presentation sessions.  We might be able to stream some to the web live, but more likely we'll post them after the fact.  Check back reglarly to check on progress.

Day 1 - July 11 - Meet participants, brainstorm ideas, form into teams

This day is will be hosted at The Difference a local consulting firm who specialize in helping corporations resolve big issues quickly.  It's a great environment for our 'get to know you' and 'let's work out what we're going to do' sessions and Justin Homer from The Difference will be hosting and helping facilitate the day.

Day 2 - July 12 - Build your business plan and plan development of the product

This is the planning phase of the business.  Mick Liubinskas of Pollenizer is going to take us through the framework that companies usually have to fork over a pile of cash and equity to tap into, it's going to be a great session.  We also have Lisa Herrod coming into talk 'exceptional user experiences'.

Day 3 - July 13 - Coding up the prototype

Ok, this is the day where the teams get to break out those laptops and go crazy in your editor of choice.  There will be a couple of surpirses too, but we can't give too much away.  But there will be some seminars too, for instance Pascal Klein will be talking about Typography and Catherine Eibner from Microsoft is going to talk about the BizSpark program and buy the Campers lunch!

Day 4 - July 14 - Build a business around the product

Pretty much as it sounds with a few gems like Elias Bizannes with some tips on Public Speaking and Emma Lo Russo on 'how to turn your product into a business'.

Day 5 - July 15 - Diamonds in the rough

We have arranged for some experienced web business folks to come in and give the teams some feedback on the businesses.  Also in the afternoon Lisa Herrod wil come back to talk about 'how to learn things from watching what people actually do with your product'.  After this talk the teams will be demoing their products to strangers in the atrium coffee shop at ATP innovations.  If you're in the neighborhood please pop in for a demo and a free cup of coffee around 3pm.  This evening the BootUp Campers will be attending the TiE Business Pitching event.  Check out TiE Sydney for details.

Day 6 - July 16 - prepare the PR plan

This day starts off at the Open Coffee Meetup/ at 8:30am in the foyer coffee shop of the City Espresso - Allianz Building, Kent St & Market St, Sydney 2000. Hopefully we will get a good turn out from the local entrepreneurial community. As for the rest of the day it's RP plans and a few other things too ;)

Day 7 - July 17 - Business launch day

Soft lauch day with a couple of presentations on the legal things you should keep top of mind when starting a business.

Day 8 - July 18 - Sales and marketing day

Today's topic is how to get customers.  Michelle Deaker a local entraprenure turned VC is going to share some of her expereinces with getting customers and partners.

Day 9 - July 19 - Community day

Details to be announced closer to the date

Day 10 - July 20 - Go get some customers day

No surprised here, this one is just like it sounds.

Day 11 - July 21 - Product refinement day

Nick Holmes à Court the CEO of Buzznumbers is going to talk about building a buzz and leveraging social media to spread your message.  Gareth Dando from Southern Cross Venture Partners will be talking about the differences between the various ways of funding a startup.  In the evening we will have some local angel investors along to take a look at the teams and provide some perspectives on the businesses.

Day 12 - July 22 - Meet the press day

The focus of this day is preparing for the formal launches of the businesses that evening.  We also have three great speakers.  Starting with Graeme Gladman who will be running a workshop on branding your business.  Chris Hitchins will be talking about 'deals and negotiation' and Nick McNaughton (entraprenuer, angel and VC) will be sharing some of his experiences.  This evening is the big lauch party.  We will be inviting local journalists to the launch.  We are still trying to nail down the best venue so watch this space for more details.

Day 13 - July 23 - Preparing to do deals

For those teams that made some traction on partnerships on Monday, this is the day to nail those deals down.  Bill Bartee from Southern Cross Venture Partners will be talking about 'how to pitch to investors' and Murali Dharan from TiE will be talking about finding and using mentors. Benjamin Ranck will give us a bit of perspective on why 'failing is not losing'.

Day 14 - July 24 - Present to a panel of VC's

Bill Bartee and Michelle Deaker will be back again this time joined by David Landers of Allen & Buckeridge to listen to the teams final presentations and provide feedback.
